Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, FUT Minna to partner on degree programmes

The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, has concluded arrangements with the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna to commence degree programmes in 10 different courses. The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Abdullahi Ahmed, disclosed this during the visit of while the Resource Inspection Team at the polytechnic chamber on Friday in Nasarawa,

Nasarawa State. Ahmed said that it had been the dream of the polytechnic to affiliate with FUT, Minna for award of degrees, adding that arrangements had reached advanced stage to actualised the programme. The rector, who commended the team for their tolerances and unwavering support during the inspection, assured them of his commitment to effect corrections on some of the loopholes identified. Earlier, the Leader of the team, Prof. Johnson Oyero, stated that the polytechnic was deemed fit to carry out the award of degrees in 10 scheduled programmes.

He observed that there was an urgent desire for the polytechnic to recruit more competent academic staff to handle the programmes.

He also recommended that e-library, office equipment, befitting office accommodation, and laboratory equipment should be put in place.

Oyero, however, commended the management of the polytechnic and urged them to do everything humanly possible to effect corrections on the areas identified.

Also, the Deputy Rector Academic, Dr Funsho Olowoniyi, commended the team for their understanding during the exercises.

He said he was part of the delegation that went to the university in 2016 on the mission to start the degree programmes.

He said the polytechnic was set to partner with the university to ensure academic excellence.
